I don’t believe in resolutions, but I believe in part of the word: solutions.
Think about life. You probably don’t keep on top of everything in your life. Relationships start to get wonky as you forget to touch base, scale needles start to go to the next set of 10s as you take a break from exercise and green stuff for too long, grades start to slip down to the next letter as tests aren’t studied for as heartily. So you stop and take stock and wonder how to solve the problems you see.
And that is where I come back to what I said earlier: Resolutions should be blackballed from Websters so that Solutions can take its place.
There are problems I see in many aspects of my life, maybe five in all. Now five isn’t a bad number. And seeing as how nothing’s tumor-based or has me eating food through a tube through my stomach, the problems I have are someone else’s non-problems.
But they still require solutions. And I have those solutions figured out. For now. You’ll see those solutions (multi-tiered, no less) in this mind map I did on my iPad:
They may need tweaks as real life infringes on optimistic goal-setting, but I’m glad to have the opportunity to tweak. And eat with a fork.
Have a fantastic 2012 filled with Solutions!
